Where are we today? Danang and Hue Vietnam, catching up on Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Day 1

You know the friends you can go a few years without seeing,  but when you do finally get together, it’s like you have never been apart? That was what it was like for us to catch up with Kelcy and Jalaine Hahn in Hong Kong!

O

Dave and I had plans for seeing certain sights in the city, but a foggy day forced us to go to plan B. We caught a city bus to the Walk of Stars promenade, and we walked it and back (stopping for coffee).  We took a ferry across to Hong  Kong Island and walked the promenade on the other side.

The promenades are home to high end shopping, apartments, gardens, docks, and many other things.

These eggs, which go all the way from a museum to a few feet out in the water are part of an upcoming museum exhibition.

I put in 10,000 steps by noon. We found our way back to the Zuiderdam.

In the late afternoon, the Hahns met us at the Kai Tak Cruise port in Kowloon. They guided us by ferry and double decker tram connections around Hong Kong Island. We shared a yummy Taiwanese style meal.  After, we took a bus ride up Victoria Peak.  The fog had cleared a bit, and the lights were beautiful from the overlook. After shopping at the peak’s mall, we rode the historic tram to the bottom.

It was great to see the beautiful city through the eyes of friends who have lived there many years.  We figured out that we have known each other for at least 32 years, when we all lived in Memphis, TN. That’s special to Dave and me.
And, you are all important to us, as well,

Zaijain!
